Florida Times-Union reporter Michael C. Wright covers the ins and outs of the Jacksonville Jaguars. In this blog, he'll share behind-the-scenes anecdotes not published within the pages of the T-U, in addition to offering up incessant ramblings about nothing such as road trips, crummy hotels and not-so-delicious press box food. Perhaps he'll even delve into serious discussions about NFL issues. So ask questions, participate in conversations, or just learn more about the Jags.

Mike Walker to Jags in the third round
The Jaguars made an interesting move by selecting Central Florida receiver Mike Walker.
Supposedly, Walker runs a 4.35 40-yard dash. He's 6-2, 209 and excels at reading defenses and finding soft spots in zone defenses. He's got good hands and catches the ball away from his body. A decent route runner, Walker has some durability issues.
Mike Walker has been pretty productive throughout his college career. In addition, he did run a legitimate 4.35 at the NFL combine, which makes him arguably the fastest WR on the team.
I sure wish someone would criticize EVERY pick the jags make. Its fans (if you can even be considered a fan)like the ones on this blog that worry me. We are one of the luckiest 32 cities in the country. I may not be excited about every pick in the first hour they are picked, but I will support my team in my city
Walker was kind of an unknown player last year, but you can't argue his production. He had 90 catches last season for 1,178 yards, if I'm not mistaken. He's coming off an ACL injury which may have dropped his stock somewhat.
I agree he was unknown, i to be honest i went "who" when they selected him, but, after research I think he was a good pick, and hey you wont know until they put the pads on!
I remember Mike from his prep career. He was one of the best five WR in the state. He held offers from Miami, FSU and Tenn. He choose to stay close to his mother in Orlando. He almost single handedly led Edgewater to the State Championship, loseing in the finals. He comes from UCF, a PRO-Style passing offence. This is a great pick up in the 3rd round for the Jags. Walker reminds me the most of Jimmy Smith, very simular comming out of college.

The Jaguars traded their second third-round selection to Baltimore.

Well support is good, but I supported the war when it first started, and look what happened!
Sorry for the war analogy, but you get my point I hope!
