Wright On

Florida Times-Union reporter Michael C. Wright covers the ins and outs of the Jacksonville Jaguars. In this blog, he'll share behind-the-scenes anecdotes not published within the pages of the T-U, in addition to offering up incessant ramblings about nothing such as road trips, crummy hotels and not-so-delicious press box food. Perhaps he'll even delve into serious discussions about NFL issues. So ask questions, participate in conversations, or just learn more about the Jags.

Jags pick almost up

The Jaguars are eight picks away from making their fifth-round pick.

I figure the Jags go after Arizona St. safety Josh Barrett. He's a big safety who ran a 4.3 at the NFL combine.

Also keep an eye out for Colt Brennan. Not that the Jags need him or anything, but he's still out there.

They did trade Dallas for picks. The Jaguars took the Cowboys' seventh-round pick.

I'm watching ESPN and Mel Kipper Jr and Todd Bouchette (i don't know if that last name is right) said the Jaguars reached on Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves. Kipper also mentioned the Jags as having the most disappointing draft this year.

Kiper is just covering his own A## because he doesnt want to look like an idiot for having Harvey down at 23 on his list. Over the years he has developed the idea that he knows more than NFL execs and GM's, to the point that anyone that picks players before he has them automatically is reaching. Plenty of other analysts have graded the jaguars as having an above average to stellar draft (based on needs). Its too bad that most fans will base their opinions of that idiot.
