Florida Times-Union reporter Michael C. Wright covers the ins and outs of the Jacksonville Jaguars. In this blog, he'll share behind-the-scenes anecdotes not published within the pages of the T-U, in addition to offering up incessant ramblings about nothing such as road trips, crummy hotels and not-so-delicious press box food. Perhaps he'll even delve into serious discussions about NFL issues. So ask questions, participate in conversations, or just learn more about the Jags.

Jags take Derrick Harvey
The Jags take Florida DE Derrick Harvey with the No. 8 pick...It'll be announced soon.
The Jags gave up their low first-round pick, two third-round picks, and a fourth-round pick? ESPN analysts called it "a reach", but it sure sets the stage for a local college guy making good in the bigs - Harvey will be an instant fan favorite. Something of a risk I think, but if Harvey pans out, he'll instantly address the team's most glaring need.
More than moronic!! We can't draft worth anything in the first. Should always trade our first for 3, round two's HARVEY!!! He wasn't even good at Florida! Can't believe we wasted this pick!!
once again the jags have really streched it with this pick. As a gator you would think i would be happy but harvey takes off plays and was outplayed by freshmen. What a thoughtless move !!! Way Too Costly !!!!!!
Great pick in my view. Harvey has more potential than the overrated Chris Long and the shorter Vernon Ghoulston. Without Harvey, Florida do not beat OSU going away in last year's NCAA championship. He's 6 5 and will intstantly solidify our D line. He was the MVP of the biggest game in college football. Props to Derek!
You responses are interesting. While you can never predict whether a player will be a bust, you've got to give the Jags credit for making such a shrewd move to go up to No. 8. It looks like there's a lot of wheeling and dealing going on in the first round.
What do you guys think of some of the moves Mike Smith is making in Atlanta?

Unbelievable that the Jags could move from 26th to 8th for just 2 3rd rounders? My My
As usual, we make a questionable 1st round pick - a guy that would have gone further down in the draft. That's how many years in a row?
I think we should just trade our first round pick for whatever we can get. We do well in rounds 2 and on.
We gave up our 2 34d round picks and our 1st and our 5th? Interesting
MY BAD; Jags gave up 2 3rds and their 4th.

Wow! A pleasant shocker! I just hope he comes in here and does his job, gets involved with our community and behaves himself.
You got the $$$, if you are going to party, hire a driver!
PS Derrick, while it's not all your responsibility, I hope you stomp Peyton Manning!!! :)
