Wright On

Florida Times-Union reporter Michael C. Wright covers the ins and outs of the Jacksonville Jaguars. In this blog, he'll share behind-the-scenes anecdotes not published within the pages of the T-U, in addition to offering up incessant ramblings about nothing such as road trips, crummy hotels and not-so-delicious press box food. Perhaps he'll even delve into serious discussions about NFL issues. So ask questions, participate in conversations, or just learn more about the Jags.

First practice in the books

Nothing elaborate transpired Saturday morning (my wife's birthday by the way) when the Jags opened training camp with their 10:15 practice. Interestingly, the club displayed the most promise in its passing game.

During team passing drills at the end of practice, the football hit the ground just twice. That's right...just two incompletions were thrown between Byron Leftwich, David Garrard and undrafted rookie Lester Ricard. One of those passes - an attempt near the sideline from Leftwich to Jimmy Farris - was knocked away by Gerald Sensabaugh while the other came on a ball thrown low by Ricard to tight end Greg Estandia.

Post-practice interviews included Leftwich, first-round pick Reggie Nelson, Reggie Hayward and Charles Sharon. Read what they had to say in tomorrow's Florida Times-Union and www.jacksonville.com

Also, be sure to hydrate. It's a tad hot out there.

Peace.
