Bad bet and other notes
Walking down the hallway at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium on Wednesday, the writers were greeted by a hideous sight: Maurice Williams wearing a green jersey with bright yellow numbers (the No. 81).
The jersey was worn in college by tight end George Wrighster, who played at Oregon. Apparently, Williams lost a bet with Wrighster and the loser has to wear the winner's college jersey for the rest of the week. Oregon defeated Williams' alma mater, Michigan, last week.
"That's the worse No. 81 I've seen in my life," defensive end Paul Spicer told Williams as he walked by in the locker room.
Making matters worse is that Williams will have to wear a white Oregon jersey in the next two days in addition to a gold one.
"You've got to coordinate," Wrighster joked in the locker room.
INJURIES
For those interested, because of new league rules, teams don't have to disclose their actual injury report until Friday. Teams are only required to list who participated in practice.
Jags center Brad Meester was on the field Wednesday for the first time since his ankle injury. He's obviously not playing this weekend along with kicker Josh Scobee. LB Clint Ingram (ankle), DT Tony McDaniel (knee) and S Gerald Sensabaugh (shoulder) participated in Wednesday's workout on a limited basis. Ingram says his ankle is 80 to 85 percent, but he expects to play against Atlanta. Falcons S Chris Crocker (knee) didn't practice. WR Laurent Robinson (hamstring) took limited repetitions.
