Wright On

Florida Times-Union reporter Michael C. Wright covers the ins and outs of the Jacksonville Jaguars. In this blog, he'll share behind-the-scenes anecdotes not published within the pages of the T-U, in addition to offering up incessant ramblings about nothing such as road trips, crummy hotels and not-so-delicious press box food. Perhaps he'll even delve into serious discussions about NFL issues. So ask questions, participate in conversations, or just learn more about the Jags.

Team gains three more draft picks

The Jags traded a third-round pick to Baltimore. In return, the Jaguars receive fourth- (101st), fifth- (166th) and sixth-round picks (203).

The pick was one of the selections Jacksonville received from its first-round trade from Denver.

Mike Walker to Jags in the third round

The Jaguars made an interesting move by selecting Central Florida receiver Mike Walker.

Still here at JAX Municipal

The first two rounds are done and I'm still here inside one of the team's meeting rooms covering this draft. I took a break from blogging for awhile since I had to work on a couple of things that will be in tomorrow's paper.

It's kind of weird that Jacksonville drafted Hampton LB Justin Durant. Before coming here to Jacksonville, I worked at a paper (covering the Redskins) not far from Hampton University. I actually covered a few of their games. In case you didn't know, HU has four or five prospects in this year's draft.

Houston Texans' return man Jerome Mathis, who made the Pro Bowl his rookie year, is also from Hampton.

Jags on the clock again.

The Jaguars are on the clock again for their second-round pick. What direction do the Jags take this time?

Jags select Nelson

With Quinn still available, the Jags selected Florida safety Reggie Nelson. Nelson is a safe pick and the local favorite. Jack Del Rio will discuss the selection shortly and we should hear from Nelson pretty soon, too.
