Wright On

Florida Times-Union reporter Michael C. Wright covers the ins and outs of the Jacksonville Jaguars. In this blog, he'll share behind-the-scenes anecdotes not published within the pages of the T-U, in addition to offering up incessant ramblings about nothing such as road trips, crummy hotels and not-so-delicious press box food. Perhaps he'll even delve into serious discussions about NFL issues. So ask questions, participate in conversations, or just learn more about the Jags.

Lambeau Field: What an atmosphere

Covering the NFL for a few years, I've had a chance to see several different stadiums. None are as unique as Lambeau Field.

After having a pretty big lunch at Favre's Steakhouse (a great place by the way), I decided to walk from my hotel to the game. The stadium sits near a residential area. It's pretty cool to see fans pouring out of the neighborhood, wearing their Packers jerseys and walking to the game. Seriously, there are fans walking from all over the place and Brett Favre's No. 4 jersey is by far the most popular.

There are approxmately 100,000 people in Green Bay and the city oozes a small-town atmosphere with a gem - Lambeau Field - tucked neatly inside it. Vito (he's sitting right next to me) mentioned that Green Bay was a top 10 market. Wow.

Sure this place has lots of history, but the fans' commitment to their team is commendable.
